My submissions for the Saratoga Springs Preservation Society Trask Art Auction are …

For me, as Competition Season 2017 winds down, it’s time for me to gear up for my other favorite “Season” – Charity Season.

Charity Season, for me, encompasses many endeavors.  Part of Charity Season involves artistic donations to various auctions and fundraisers.  At the same time, it also involves personal charitable endeavors, such as my Thanksgiving Day volunteer efforts with Equinox’s Turkey Day delivery service.

But right now, let’s start with the Saratoga Springs Preservation Society’s Trask Art Sh9w, which takes place Thursday night, October 5 at the Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs.  I have submitted three artworks for consideration for the event.  All three will be available for purchase and bid, so if you want to get your mitts on some rare Chuck Miller art pieces – including a Crate Art Project piece…

You know where you need to be.

First artwork for consideration will be …

THE SARATOGA AND NORTH CREEK RAILROAD

The Saratoga and North Creek Railroad. Nikon Df camera, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G lens. Photo taken in October 2015. Photo by Chuck Miller.

There it goes, chugging along the tracks as it spans the Sacandaga River from Corinth to Hadley. I entered this photo in competition last year, and it did pick up a silk from the Big E’s photo show.

Next on the show is…

CORINTH RESERVOIR WITH MILKY WAY

Corinth Reservoir with Milky Way. Nikon Df camera, Irix 15mm f/2.4 lens, ISO 3200 for 20 seconds. Photo (c) Chuck Miller, all rights reserved.

This tranquil photo, complete with a little bit of light-painting to show off the foliage and signage, will be printed one time and one time only.  And remember, bidding on this artwork helps the Saratoga Springs Preservation Society keep its buildings and monuments and statues in tip-top shape and repair.

And finally…

Just a little piece I worked on for a while…

SARATOGA VICHY CRATE ART PROJECT

That’s right, this little mixed media piece – which includes vintage Saratoga Vichy water bottles, a vintage Saratoga Vichy crate, a vintage Saratoga Vichy bottle opener, and some not vintage electroluminescent wire – is being offered for the Trask this year.

Granted, my listing these three items in the blog does NOT automatically mean they will be accepted.  I should hear in a few days or so if any or all of the pieces will be part of the event.

I really hope that they get accepted, to be totally honest with you.  The Trask is a really great art show, and just being part of the event, along with all the wonderful painters and sculptors and photographers and craftspeople, with my work shown alongside their amazing creations – it’s just a wonderful feeling.

More news as it becomes available.

Wow … didn’t initially realize that Charity Season 2017 was arriving so quickly.  Why, it seems, it was just last year around this time that Charity Season 2016 came about…
