I’m starting to believe that our trivia host, Kevin Baker, has a Wahlberg fascination. At least twice during last night’s trivia game, he referenced the Boston entertainment family … first by asking what 1988 New Kids on the Block album was their smash LP (it was “Hangin’ Tough”), then later on asking to identify the backing group of Mark Wahlberg’s rap singles (the “Funky Bunch”). All we needed was a question about what TV network hosts Wahlburgers and we’d have the trifecta. 😀
The game was a spirited one this week, and I stayed in the middle of the pack while the team of reporters known as The Fist held the lead for most of the night. But then it came to the final question, “Side Jobs.”
I had 92 points at the final question, and was only 18 points away from catching The Fist. At this point, I’m going, “To hell with it, bet the farm.”
And I did.
You probably know how this is going to turn out.
“What country singer once had a side job as the lead singer of an alternative rock band called Brother Clyde?”
All right, Miller, try to use some logic on this one.
Maybe it was an alt-rock band the guy was part of before he was famous.
Heck, Keith Urban once performed with Chuck’s favorite Oz Rock band Dragon… maybe Keith Urban played with some other Oz Rock groups before making the big time.
W wrote down Keith Urban. So did the Dans and New Phone Who Dis and a couple of other squads, so at least I know my logic was there.
Well, here’s a video of Brother Clyde. Take a look at the lead singer.
That ain’t Keith Urban.
That’s Miley Cyrus’ old man.
Yep. Billy Ray Cyrus.
I am now going to scrub my eardrums with Brillo pads.
Nacho Punch won the night – they had Billy Ray Cyrus as the answer – and The Fist held down second place by betting zero points, a no-balls bet (can I say no balls in this blog? Oh yeah, I can…) Dan 2017 also had a safe bet of 1 point, they took third for the night.
So here’s the new point totals after eight weeks of the game.
|Week 8 of the Graney’s Stout Spring Trivia League|| Starter Points for Final Game
|Dan 2017: The Next Generation||14|
|New Phone, Who Dis||9|
|Woo Hoo a Go Go||5|
Eight weeks down, four weeks to go until the final game on June 28.
